Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! In fact, most of the athletes I work with are starting from scratch. Whether you have 500 Followers or 50,000, the fundamentals of building a personal brand and learning how to pitch to sponsors are the same. What matters is that you have a story worth telling (you do, and I’ll help you define it!), and the willingness to put in work.

National Sports Organizations do great work supporting athletes’ performance on the field of play, but very few offer individual brand or marketing coaching. The gap between being a great athlete and being able to market yourself, attract sponsors, and build a career beyond competition is exactly what xoxo sports is designed to fill. This is one-on-one coaching built specifically around you, your story, your sport, and your goals.

Not as much as you think! Sessions are 60 minutes, virtual, and you schedule them around your training & competition calendar. Between sessions, any action steps are meant to be worked on in small increments. Think 20-30 minutes, not hours (unless you want to). Building your brand doesn’t have to compete with your sport - we’ll make it complement it!
-
Absolutely! National Team athletes, development athletes, and even retired athletes all benefit from this work. Your personal brand has value whether or not you make it to the Games, and the earlier you start building it, the more opportunities you create.

It depends on what your goals are, but most athletes will leave with: a clear sense of their personal brand & what makes them stand out (Unique Value Proposition), a list of aligned potential sponsors to approach, a polished pitch deck & outreach email, or a content creation strategy that they can actually maintain throughout the season.
For the 3-session package, we go deeper and get you set up with all of the above!

I get it - athlete budgets are always tight. A few things worth knowing: some athletes can access funding through programs like Sport Canada’s AAP or provincial sport funding to cover professional development costs. Also, check in with your Game Plan advisor or AthleteCAN to see if you have some sessions covered by their partnership with xoxo sports.
